Changing lives through spoken word

Who are we?

Write2Speak is an organisation that works closely with young people and adults of all backgrounds and abilities, supporting them to express themselves through spoken word poetry, creative writing, and performance. We believe every voice has value and every person has the right to be heard. Facilitated by professional poets, actors and educators Tyler Luke Cunningham and Yossi Goodlink, our workshops inspire people to connect with themselves each other and the world around them. We provide people with the rare opportunity to think, write and share about the things that matter to them, equipping participants with the tool of spoken word as a creative outlet and potential lifelong passion.

What do we aim to do?

Our mission is to inspire and support as many people as possible to express themselves through spoken word poetry and creative writing. We aim to support people's wellbeing, physical and mental health through participation in our creative and collaborative workshops. We particularly aim to support people who may not have previously had the opportunity to express themselves creatively. We also focus particularly on working with young people. The youth are our future, and it is essential we nurture them and encourage them to think for themselves. Our mission is to bring light into people's minds, hearts, and lives.

How do we work?

We work in an open and collaborative way, supporting all participants to feel comfortable to share their thoughts and feelings. We run individual workshops and longer-term projects tailored to the needs of each group we support. So far, we have worked with primary and secondary schools, colleges, universities, charities, community groups, youth clubs, companies, theatres, and arts organisations. We take pride in our work supporting marginalised groups. In the past we have worked with refugees and migrants, people who have various complex needs, people with mental health issues, young people who are carers and young people from socio-economically deprived areas.
