Improving the lives of young people through early intervention and promotion of mental health
Who are we?
Julian Campbell Foundation (JCF) is an early intervention service that helps young people manage their mental health and wellbeing through mentoring, drama and dance. These services help young people manage their mental health (such as stress, anxiety and depression) as well as developing their emotional intelligence, resilience and self-esteem.
Founded by his sister Jacqueline, an ex-teacher, she knew education was important and schools would be a great place to start, so in 2009 the Julian Campbell Foundation (JCF) was born and in 2011 we became a registered charity. Since then Jacqueline has built JCF into what it is today by developing and delivering training for mentors, teachers and drama facilitators and building relationships within the local community to change the lives of young people.
What do we aim to do?
Julian Campbell Foundation’s goal is to improve the lives of young people through early intervention and promotion of mental health in educational establishments, such as:
Primary and Secondary schools
Colleges
Universities
Youth Offending Programs
Youth Centres
Prisons
Work and Health Programmes
School Exclusion Programmes
Hearing Impaired
How do we work?
We provide practical and emotional support to young people and their families through befriending and mentoring service in a person-centered way.
Mentors offer 12, 1 hour sessions to each mentee. During this time the mentor will support the mentee whilst helping them to identify and manage their mood, equipping them with knowledge and tools to manage their own mental wellbeing after the sessions finish.
Our mentoring program is available to young people, aged 11-25, struggling to manage their mood or who need some extra support dealing with emotional/stressful situations. Young people do not need a diagnosis to access our mentoring service.
